Virginia Water is known to be the location of the Wentworth Estate and the prestigious homes built within the private grounds. The town itself has much to offer local residents and there are many desirable homes outside of the renowned Wentworth Estate for those who wish to live in the area.

Why does Virginia Water property appeal so greatly and what makes the area such a popular place to live?

Why live in Virginia Water?

The area as a whole is well known for its golf, the Wentworth Golf Club is of particular note but there are also many other golf and country clubs nearby including Foxhills, Sunningdale, Queenwood, and the Royal Berkshire.

Virginia Water Lake, which is owned and managed by The Crown Estate, is a popular place to visit with local residents who enjoy walking around the lake with their families and dogs. There is much to see here including the Totem Pole, the Leptis Magna Ruins and the Cascade waterfall. The lake is the largest man-made lake in Europe and was created in the mid-18th century by the Duke of Cumberland.

Ascot Racecourse and Polo at Smiths Lawn in Windsor Great Park are nearby for those who have an interest in equine. There are also many great riding routes and bridle paths in the area as a whole.

The Wentworth Estate

The exclusive Wentworth Estate is a series of private roads with a high level of security which appeals greatly to many. The homes are situated around the world-class golf courses that are part of the Wentworth Golf Club, which has a key part in the history of the Ryder Cup, in total, the area covers around 700 hectares.

Whilst development and the building of homes around the Wentworth Estate began in 1922 many of the homes have since been demolished and rebuilt or renovated.

Homes in the Wentworth Estate are known to have exceptional facilities such as swimming pools, gyms, games rooms, cinema rooms and beautifully kept gardens.

Residents enjoy living in relative seclusion from one another with the majority of properties being set within their own grounds and behind security gates.
